I went afk for a while and when I got back I was out and MC had a message that I was banned.  When I tried to log back in there was a message about updating or something and when I've tried again it says "Cleaning up the mess. We will be back soon."

 

So is the server just getting updated and I was just kicked for the update?  Or was I actually banned?  If banned how do I find out why?

Hello Tom,

 

There are some serious issues with the server at the moment, and several people have been erroneously banned as a result. Admins are currently busy cleaning up the mess (and will be undoing those erroneous bans in the process). This will take at least the rest of the day, and possibly longer, not sure how long it will take yet. Just check back once in a while to see if it's back up already. To be clear, this is not for updates, we'll still be on 1.12.2 after we're back up.

The server is up again, though survival-only for the moment. You should be able to get back on, if you still find yourself banned, restart the game+launcher, if it still doesn't work after that, let me know.
