Hey there! As some (maybe) of you remember, I had an Elite Build Squad on the last map.
It was a complete debacle.
So I restarted it for this map! I can't figure out how to import images to show our work, but you can contact me, jinkos2, in game to see it. We build mansions and houses for ourselves, decorate other homes, do fixer-uppers, and even build free houses for newbies! Or cheap ones for other people!
We're all specialists. For example, I'm structure. We've got interior designers, underground/bunker type home guys, terraformers, exterior detailers, and redstoners. And we want YOU!
For your application, assuming you want in, just post on this forum some things. We'll need:
1. In-Game Username
2. rank (just to know if you can tp and stuff, we take that into account to know who should do big projects, etc; it doesn't affect whether or not we pick you)
3. Preferred Style (ex. modern, medieval)
5. Something you've built in survival. A screenshot would be great, but you can also contact and seek me out in game for me to take a look. Now, it has to be freestyled. Since I can't go through the pain of checking to see if you did, we'll allow it to be 10% copied off someone else's build. For example, say you reuse a pillar idea or block choice. If you do do that (it's purely optional), please list the URLs of the sites you used, and if it was just google images you can drag the image to a new tab and put that URL in.
Your application will be reviewed ASAP (I'll check this forum topic every day or so) by a random jury of 2. We'll pick 2 guys from the squad to review.
And don't worry. Even if you aren't that good of a builder but you are a good worker who can follow instructions well and collaborate, we'll take you. Our acceptance rate is 80%! The few people we haven't accepted have just been reviewed as such because of their inability to cooperate with others.
I look forward to seeing some of your work and inviting you to the Squad!

This sounds like fun and I look forward to seeing some of these elite builds on the server once your team is up and running. I hope this time around it isn't a "complete debacle" 🙂
I'm also glad to see that you're asking for rank info from applicants. I would like to kindly remind you (and any applicants) that according to our please-don't-build-towns blog post, we discourage Survivors from joining in active communities, towns, and teams. Get to know the server first and then join with Jinkos and build a replica of the Edinburgh Castle.

Thanks for the support Jim!
Actually, there's been a rather unpleasant development. We usually do homes for newbies, but apparently it's illegal now. I built homes for a couple of Survivors, who were online a lot. They had rather (I'm sorry) untidy homes and they wanted new, nice ones. So I built them them!
Well, unbeknownst to me, that was a town. And they started recruiting newbies right off the bat, which is illegal.
And they called me their mayor! I had said nothing of the sort and not even implied it - I've got my own homes, thank you very much. Staff (not naming names) gave me grief about it, saying that I needed to stop doing the town. Well, after a quick debate it was learned that we can't build homes for newbies anymore. Doesn't matter if they're in just a community, that's "poaching newbies".
So I guess we'll be doing work for the big guys, which means a chance to get PAID. But it also means we can't be as nice to the wabbit community.
I'm sorry about this development and hope it doesn't sway your opinion on joining the squad.

And I can understand why our staff said something.
As a survival server, we staff focus alot on the experience of our newest wabbits. There are pages and pages written about minecraft first night tactics, getting food, making a temporary shelter, getting first tools, etc. I still will boot up a single player game in a harsh environment from time to time because that's my favorite part of the game. It's where the challenge is. We really want everyone to experience that which is why we keep the 'survival' in the name of the server. While I understand the need for more experienced wabbits to have something more to do and the creation of elite build squads, I will agree with our staff to please allow survivors to, well, survive. Once they're up on their feet with a base (preferably in an area all their own), a steady supply of food, and the ability to teleport, please invite them into the creation of a St. Peter's basicilla or a Great Wall of China or something. I love seeing that stuff.
But if they're still new, kindly tell them to reapply to the squad once they're better settled in on the server.
But it also means we can't be as nice to the wabbit community.
If you're referring to helping out new players as being nice to the community, it's my opinion, and I believe the opinion of Wabbit and the Admin team, that the nicest thing we can do is provide a friendly place for a new player to venture out and survive. Thanks for cooperating with our staff on this.

Ok, thanks for the clarification Jim. I will take that into account. As it stands, the only ones on the build squad are at least traveller. It just seems a little harsh to me to say in a broadcast "New players not welcome". That is an exaggeration but is implied.
As to letting them enjoy the challenge on their own, I get what you mean. I really only build homes for them if they ask for it.

Although I was not there, I was reading the chat when those homes were build for Survivors. I must say that I agree with Jinkos in that they cannot be blamed for newbies not understanding the fine details of the no-towns rule. In my view this whole thing was caused by misunderstanding, not by ill will on anyone's part. Jinkos, perhaps it's an idea to build newbies homes in the middle on nowhere in the future? That would prevent any idea of "towns" being a thing here, and it would also prevent ghost settlements.
Then there is the fine distinction between helping people who ask for it, and outright offering to help them, without them asking. On the other hand, without it being offered I don't think many people would imagine a wonderful person building free homes.
Jimmy, while first night survival may be your favourite part of Minecraft, it is not for everybody. Personally, I play survival because I like mining, growing and building stuff within the limits of what I mine and grow. The entire monster-fighting and surviving the first nights isn't, I can do it, but it isn't what I play for. Yet I wouldn't want to play creative because there is no sense of achievement in building something big there. I think we all have to accept that survival means different things for different people. I also think that that is a good thing, and it is part of what makes the community of players. The desire to play only a favourite part of survival, and rely on the rest through trade is what makes me, and undoubtedly many others, play multi-player.
Finally, when it comes to joining the Elite Build Squad, thanks but no thanks, group building just isn't for me. If you continue to do free homes, I may donate some building materials, though.
Hi, I would quite like to join this 🙂
I wouldn't consider myself a specialist as such, but I am quite handy with building, redstone etc. Although I'm not a specialist I do enjoy a team project and I don't build horrific things and I'm improving 😀
My in-game username is Fredlas (you'll have seen me around) and I'm in the rank Explorer. I don't have a particular style but modern is not my area. I'll show you my current base on the server and I hope you like it! 😀
