As you've probably noticed, the server is down right now. I was not there for what happened (work has a tendency to require attendance), and I can't be sure of the facts yet as I have not had time to investigate, but I will be looking into this. In the meantime, the server will remain down to prevent anything else from happening.
If you have any useful information on what happened here (so, only if you were on), and have any screenshots or anything, please let me know. I don't want to know that "OMG ITS BROKE FIX IT", this will not help, and I will probably ignore/delete anything like that. Did you see any map grief? Just the chat messages? This is the kind of info I need.
Now, it may turn out we need to restore from a backup. If this is the case, anyone who made progress today will likely need to do so again, and that will be kinda tough. Not a lot we'll be able to do. However, with any luck the server took itself down quickly enough for this not to be an issue. We will see.
For now, we deeply apologise for the outage, this has come a bit from left field. We ask for your patience during this, and your understanding as we attempt to figure it all out.

When the server went haywire there were a lot of broadcasts with a link to something, I think someone managed to grab screenshots of the messages, and we were all teleported to spawn.
Everything got really laggy and glitchy and judging from the youtube link that was attached the individual or individuals involved may have destroyed a large portion of the world.

I have loads of experience with creating, running, and maintaining servers. If you need any help please contact me. Also, shouldn't you just be able to use "//undo" if they griefed with worldedit or you should be able to reverse the damage with your co-inspector plugin. I am also a plugin developer so if you need any help with coding plugins or anything like that, I'm your man.

It was flooding a link to a youtube page and then teleported everyone to spawn. Then I logged out. The youtuber it linked to was zSebaah

Hey guys, quick update. I haven't started the server back up yet (we have a placeholder online to direct people here) to keep the logs clean, but I've been cross referencing etc and I've identified the problem.
Don't worry about the Blenchik thing, he is one of our "occasional admins", but this wasn't really them. If you see them around, please don't harass them.
The next step is to put a solution in place to prevent this from happening again, and to assess the map damage done (if any) and reverse it if possible. If not, I'm afraid we'll have to wait for the backups, which will be a longer downtime, but a much better end result 🙂
I'm going to have some dinner now, I will update you all later when I've got a little further with this.

I finally figured what was going on... Blenchik is one of the admins. he is one of the good guys. he seems to have been trying to stop that hacker from ruining teh server but failed,. I HATE THAT HACKER 4 LIFE!!! WHAT A SICKO!!! POSTING THINGS OF HIM DOING THOSE AWFUL THINGS TO SERVERS, ADN WABBIT IS SUCH A FREINDLY SERVER WHO WOULD EVER DO SUCH A THING!!!!!

Don't speculate about this please, it'll only confuse people. I will explain what happened at a later time, for now we'll be working on fixing it. Nobody tried to stop it, all they did was join, break some blocks and spam a bit which then crashed the server. It can be sorted out, it's just a matter of time, and we're busy people. I'll have to get this done around work.

Alright, so any one that is confused about what happened to the server while the hacker was on (assuming he was actually online).
Basically, he started sending out these "Broadcasts" to the whole server, saying how it was being hacked, along with links to the YouTube channel zSebaah and saying @HiddenGriefing. (Basically some guy just goes around from server to server, trying to destroy it in any way they can.) While the broadcasts were going on, he sent everyone back to spawn, causing a HUGE lag festival, and that was when people started leaving, same with me. I don't know if anything else happened while I was gone, but I know there were at least 10 other players that remained until either he or an admin or whatever shut down the server. Since then, the server has been under maintenance.

Please, people, calm down. I know Wabbit means alot to all of us, but it is being worked on and nothing helps by panicking or yelling. This is a stressful problem, but I recommend anyone who is not involved in fixing this problem, go outside or do something to get your mind off of this issue.

Pretty much this.
Anyway, "disaster" averted. We found a vulnerability in our server settings that allowed the attacker to make an unauthorized connection to the Minecraft server, but this has now been fixed. The damage done has also been repaired. Thankfully, no backups were required.
Now, when I say damage.... It, well, it has to be seen to be believed:
